We went sledding at Soldier Hollow two times over the holiday. We went the first time with my family and the second time with Jane and Dusty and a lot of their neighbors who are now our Friends as well . The kids love the ability to sled down the hill and have the rope tow you back up to the top !
At the top we would all connect tubes and go down I think we had about 20 people all connected at one point ! What a great time!

Scotty got me an electric blanket !!! I am ALWAYS cold and I hate getting into cold sheets at night !! This blanket has dual heating so I can have my side of the blanket HOT and scott can have his off. I always have it cranked to the hottest setting for a bit then just before I fall asleep I turn it down to 3 which is just a nice mild warmth !!! LOVE !!!!

I always look forward to getting new slippers from Scotty every christmas morning!! And for all that know me I LOVE SLIPPERS !!! I wear them always !! Even in the summer I wear flip flop slippers !! Scotty did an amazing job as always picking me out some great ones ! This is what the family room looked like before it was destroyed by the kids ! Santa came and left each of the kids gifts in thier own santa bags with thier name on it !! The kids loved that they each had their own "bag" and not just a pile !

Brevin LOVES shoes (about as much as I love slippers) !!! I had to get Brev one more toy (so that the amount of presents was even between the kids) and he wanted shoes instead !! He pick out these DC shoes black with bright green wirting ! Not my fav. but he Loves them !!! :) Seriously I think this was his favorite present of the day !!

Cason is our vidoe game player !! He is AMAZING at them. He was way excited that Santa got him the "Spore" game !

Our tradition of opening up "Grandma and Grandpa Kolman's " gift on Christmas eve !! The kids look forward to it all day ! Mckenna got some Hollister perfume, Cason got some Bionicles and Brevin got a Star wars Lego's...However, The moment the boys opened their gift they immediately traded with each other. Life could not get any better for them !! :)Scotty reads " The night before Christmas " to the kids before we send them to bed. My dad did that with me and my siblings and that is one tradition that I really love ! The only difference is that scott reads it as it's written and my dad made up funny things as he read it . (ie...instead of reading "stuck a finger aside of his nose" my dad would add lib and say "stuck his finger inside of his nose" I remember as a kid just laughing my way through the whole book !! But I love that my kids have that memory with Daddy!

We really had a great time with all the neighbor friends who joined us on Christmas eve !! Thanks everyone for making it such a fun evening !!

This is the circle for our white elephant game !! We found out that a handful of our neighbors stay home on Christmas eve so we decided to have them over for some yummy food and games !! The party started at 6 and everyone was gone by 9 . It was a very fun evening and a future tradition !!

After the "Kolman" family party the kids were excited to get home and open their traditional Christmas eve gift... pajamas !!!

Christmas eve we went to jump on it in the morning and then back to Tim and Amber Mclain's house. We are not technically related but we are so close that we consider them family !! They spend every Christmas eve with the "Kolman" family !!

We had a Mexican fiesta theme and it turned out wonderful ! definitely a must for next year as well ! The party ended about 3 and we all headed our own directions for the remainder of Christmas eve. !! me, mom, Julie and Jen !

All the kids !! On our vacation's with the Rhodes family, it's a tradition for us to take a picture of the kids together oldest to youngest ! I love that we have (between us that is) ages : 11,10,9,8,7,5 and 2 !! So from oldest to youngest it goes... Mckenna, Kiana, Cason, Mila, Brevin, K.j. and Sela !!!

Here is my other BESTEST friend in the whole wide world !!! We are sharing the greatest tamales ever !!! We bought them from a vendor on the beach !!! I often wonder how we don't get sick !! I LOVE MEXICAN FOOD !!! (let me say Mexican food that is authentic) Kenna, Cason and Brevin sharing a brief moment of getting along and playing in the Sea of Cortez ! Lovers beach is in the background !
We were told to eat at the "Original"trailer park restaurant and we did. It was great food and my Mole was the best mole...except for the mole that we get from Rudy's mother when we go to Mazatlan!! Still looking for good mole in Utah ?!

Kenna and Jordan hanging out in the scuba pool ! It's 8 feet 6 inches and it is used to certify people. It is at the Pueblo Bonito Rosa which is another Pueblo located Right in down town Cabo. We spent a day here because this is one of only a few beaches you can actually swim in ! But to all that may stay here it was the worst Mexican food that I have EVER had in Mexico !! Of course we gave in to the vendors that roam the beach ! Kenna had some of these bracelets made for her friends and each of the boys got one! We had a total of nine made, BUT Jane is really the one that kept them busy for mist of the day by having him personalize 30 bracelets for her !!!! YOU GO GIRL !!
The boys got there traditional henna tattoo's !! They have to get them every time we go to Mexico !!! It's scary to see how proud they are of their new tattoo's. Should I be worried ? I figure that if they can get fake ones they will never want a real one ? ... well lets hope !! Kenna also got a little heart on the top of her foot way cute !

Halloween at daddy's office. The kids walked around to all the offices and trick or treated. P.M.I. has done this for a couple of years and all the employee's bring in their kids to trick or treat. There was an amazing turnout..400 plus people showed up !! What a great success !!!

We had the Kolman cousins in town for a couple of days from Colorado . Nathan, London,Taylor, Kylie, and Britney !! They spent the afternoon at our house and it was fun to hang with them. We needed something fun to do so I went to a nearby tree (In some one's yard...not sure who but I'm sure they don't mind) and picked some really cute small apples. We made Carmel apples. YUM. :) Wish we could have spent more time with them . Once a year is DEFINITELY not enough !!!!

The kids were "SO" excited to empty out the "gooey" stuff from their pumpkins...instead they all got grossed out and had daddy do it! What a good sport. Actually Brevin did quite a bit on his so I do have to give him props for that !! Good job Brev.

Don't let the dirty hands fool you...Daddy did most all the clean out. Brevin did do quite a bit but Cason got pretty frustrated that the guts would not come out easier and gave up after about 3 pulls. This was the night of our school carnival so Cason has red hair.

Kneaders opens in Lehi !!!!! It is on Alpine highway as your headed from Highland to the freeway !!! It officially opened Friday October 10 and yes folks I have eaten there every day since they opened !! I have a problem !! But it least it's a good problem !!:)Our AMAZING friends Shauna and Andrew are the proud owners of this new Kneaders !!! This is Thursday night the 9th of October, the night of their friends and family open house at the store !! It was So great and of course the food was WONDERFUL ! I have told Andrew that he and Shauna might be living there but I may be living there for different reasons...such as I LOVE THE FOOD !! I also asked if it were possible to put in a scale just for me so I know when I've been there a few to many time's and need to back off !! Scott says we are personally building their children's college funds !! :) HE HE !!

This is pretty cool !! The kids are pointing at the name Sylvester H. Earl . Sylvester is the kids great, great, great, great Grandpa !! He was in the first company of pioneers with Brigham Young to come into the Salt Lake valley in 1847 ! The kids were pretty thrilled about that ! The thought that there (4 greats) grandpa probably knew Brigham Young personally !

This home is an original. They were able to take this home apart and put it back together here in the village. 9 people lived in this home, Father, mother and their 7 children !!! Truly this was not bigger than Mckenna's room. The kids all said that they were very grateful for their home! It really is AMAZING to envision how life was for the pioneers. What they went through to get to the valley and then to hear about all the hard ships they faced ! I am so grateful for them and there strength. With this cabin and many others we saw...man IF WALLS COULD TALK ... the stories would be so great.

Friday, Oct. 3rd I took the kids up to "This is the place monument" . We had a great time learning about the life of the pioneers and the amazing trek into the Salt Lake valley. This picture was taken in front of the statue of Brigham Young declaring "This is the place" ! In the little gift shop the kids had fun trying on the bonnets, Kenna and I told the boys that the bonnets were for the girls but they loved putting them on anyway !! I told them I would buy them one and they could were it out side and well... that's when they put them back. ! :)
Unfortunately all the homes are closed this time of year, we just got lucky that their was someone in the barber shop and he let us in for a peak. The boys found a checkers game and started a game. They couldn't play long but it was fun while it lasted !
This is a replica of the original Brigham Young Academy, which of course through time has become Brigham Young University.
This monument was erected many years ago and is believed to be the exact spot where Brigham Young stood and declared " This is the place" as he looked over the Salt Lake Valley. The crazy thing is that the valley at the time was a complete desert. There were no trees or greenery of any sort .

OK so today we made Amish friendship bread !! YUM !!! It is a 10 day process, the zip lock sits on your counter for 10 days fermenting and well ... you add a few more ingredients and WAA-LAA !!! It tastes like cinnamon crumb cake. It is more of a cake texture instead of bread and oh SO SO good. The ingredients calls for a cup of sugar and a mixture of cinnamon sugar sprinkled on top....so how could it not be good !! I really wanted to copy the recipe for all of you but (well it goes back to my complete LACK of computer knowledge, however Jen's comming over next week, we'll post it then) I could not figure out how to scan a copy from my printer to my computer. Sorry !! :) so if you want the recipe you will need to let me know ! If you ever get the chance to make it DO cause it really is YUMMY !!!!!

OK !!!! Just so everyone knows ...Yes Jen did all my blogging for a couple of weeks and added a few pictures for me, BUT I got on the other night determined to conquer the Darn computer and figure out how this blog stuff works !!! And yes I have to say I am SO SO SO proud of myself for doing it ALL BY MYSELF !! I pushed buttons on the computer and amazing enough the computer did NOT break !!! So I am now ready to figure out how to do fun things on this blog and be a little more detailed and share more info about our life in the Bland house hold !! :) And truth be told I am actually really excited to do this !!
Thank you to JANE for creating my blog for me and thank you to JEN for doing my blog for a couple of weeks and for Melissa for coming over and teaching me how to put a picture onto my blog !! (remember baby steps for me) HE he!!! You all rock and I love you to pieces !!!!Now I just have to be camera crazy and take pictures of EVERYTHING !!!! Kenna has joined the 6th grade cheer squad this year and is enjoying it... She doesn't think that she will continue doing it next year but will have fun till this year is over. !! I am actually happy about her not wanting to continue it...HOLY COW do you know how expensive it is !!!!!! But she sure is a doll and I cant believe how big she is getting. Quite a young lady !! :)

Jamie, Shauna and I had a great time in Las Vegas for a little girls get away !!! We did not see any shows or eat anywhere amazing...however we did have a GREAT time relaxing by the pool ( and holy cow people watching by the pool is almost more fun than people watching on the street ) We had a great time and totally enjoyed hanging out with each other and of course shopping !!!! What a great time and i can't wait to do it again! Unfortunately again might take a little longer than I'd like !! I think I'm completely addicted to traveling !!! LOVE IT !!

The sunsets up in the uinta's are amazing !! We just love to be outdoors ! And there is nothing better than a good old camp fire !

We loved Washington lake it was so beautiful. The kids loved to fish at the lake which was about 15 feet from our campsite. Brevin however confused himself for a fish and hooked his eye lid with his fishing hook. He was casting out and casted wrong and well right into his eyelid !! ouch !! and very scary but a relief when he started to blink knowing that it was not stuck in his eye. SO Mommy and Brevin took a trip into Kamas to see the local dr. All was well and we still have the fish hook in a container for a reminder ! :)

I have to admit this is not the first thing on my list of things to accomplish during my days, mostly because I Suck at it and it totally scares me just randomly hitting buttons on my computer !!!! But like Sara said it is like when I started running i could only run a block before I wanted to fall over and die. So I need to treat this like running...BABY STEPS !!! The only difference is I can actually break something doing this and so I am a little more timid. Needless to say for those that know me well enough you may already know that if I am intimidated at doing something I put it in the "Closet " and pretend it does not exist..."out of sight out of mind" ! Also I am a horrible speller and I know there is a spell check on this thing but I am not sure were so you may just have to deal with my spelling errors until I figure that out too . Remember as "Bob" would say "Baby Steps"! O.k to fill you all in on the life of the Blands. We went to Cabo San Lucas Mexico the first part of October and had a great time. I LOVE Mexico and loved Cabo, but it was not the same without the Rhodes , eating mole, painting pottery and hunting for crabs in Mazatlan. We got home from Cabo and in less than 48 hours I was on a plane headed to Boston to visit Kim Muir, who moved to the Boston area a few months ago ! We had a great time , It was so much fun seeing her and visiting her new home. I truely could live there, the beauty of the area is breath taking and I love how quant everything is . And the scoops of ice cream...well you can't beat it !!! Oh and I know they are happy the Red Soxs just won the World Series !!!!!!!! Anyway life is still crazy with Halloween in just a few days, Mckenna is going to be a "candy corn witch" while Cason and Brevin are following the starwars theme by being clones. (I think that is what they are called but honestly I can't remember... the important thing is that they like there costume, not that I know the name of it : ) ) I am dressing up as Sally from the Disney movie "A nightmare before Christmas". Well that is the latest on our fam and I will really try to keep this up at least once a week !!! love to all and remember we love and appreciate all of you !!!
